President Donald Trump delivered a strong message on the ongoing situation with Iran, rejecting Tehran’s latest response to the U.S. peace proposal as “totally unacceptable.”

In his latest comments, Trump stated he had reviewed Iran’s formal reply — relayed through Pakistani mediators — and quickly dismissed it.

“I have just read the response from Iran’s so-called representatives. I don’t like it. Totally unacceptable.”

Key Points from Trump’s Statements:

  • Iran’s Counter-Proposal: Reports indicate Iran demanded recognition of sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, compensation for damages, and other conditions, while reportedly avoiding firm commitments on its nuclear program.
  • U.S. Position: The original American proposal focused on reopening the Strait of Hormuz for international shipping, a temporary ceasefire, and addressing Iran’s nuclear ambitions as part of a longer-term deal.
  • Current Status: Trump is maintaining pressure while keeping diplomatic channels open. He has emphasized that the U.S. will not accept a weak deal and continues to explore options, including potential naval protection for commercial vessels (Project Freedom) to ensure safe passage through the strait.

Despite the rejection, limited shipping activity has resumed in parts of the strait in recent days, offering a small sign of de-escalation even as talks remain stalled. The fragile ceasefire that began roughly a month ago has largely held, though sporadic drone incidents continue to be reported in the Gulf region.

Trump has signaled “tactical and operational patience” while making clear that stronger actions remain available if Iran does not move toward a serious agreement.

This update comes as the administration balances firmness against the Iranian regime with efforts to stabilize global energy markets and protect U.S. interests in the Middle East.
